Mission & Goals

To help serve the needs of our country's most vulnerable and underserved children and youth, Stoneleigh Center is committed to supporting talented practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to develop and test new ideas and approaches that will improve the well-being and future for young people with the greatest needs. We do this through a fellowship program.

Our overarching goal is to unite the research of the Stoneleigh Fellows with policy change and improvement to practice in three critical areas: child welfare, education, and juvenile justice.

In operating the fellowship programs, we seek to:

  • Affect the well-being of children and youth;
  • Invest in policy change, practice improvement, and research dissemination;
  • Support individuals who can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children;
  • Spur innovation that links the major public systems serving young people: child welfare, education, and juvenile justice; and
  • Make a significant aggregate difference in the field through the creation of a community of fellows engaged in projects tackling similar problems through a variety of approaches.
